Newspapers can be a great source for finding out information about a local community. In addition to news articles, they contain obituaries, advertisements, calendars, and more published information. Worcester County has had several newspapers published over the last almost 200 years. The Worcester County Library's archival collections contain several of these newspapers in print or microfilm format. In addition to those in our personal collections, we have linked to other local repositories and archives which have made Worcester County newspapers available to researchers.
If a newspaper in our collection does not have a link, it has not yet been digitized and uploaded. We are working on making all of our newspapers accessible. If you are interested in one of our non-uploaded newspapers for research, please send us an email at history@worcesterlibrary.org and we can prioritize that issue and notify you once it has been completed, or make an appointment for you to view the physical copy.
Newspapers have been listed chronologically by publication date. Under each organization is listed the year range that they have issues from. Not all years in that range are covered and not all issues are necessarily included for each year. For more information on which years and issues are included, please reference the linked page. Each organization may have its own policies for viewing and using newspapers, some may be online, while others may require you to visit in person. Please reference their websites for more information.
