The Local History and Genealogy staff reside at the Snow Hill Branch. Our genealogy collection (located in the Worcester Room) is available anytime during the normal Snow Hill Branch hours. However, the Local History and Genealogy staff are not there during all hours being opened. The Local History and Genealogy staff use monetary donations to help ensure we have the best upkeep to our collections. If you would like to help us out by sending a donation, we would greatly appreciate it.

If you are interested in donating photographs, books, documents, or any other materials to the Worcester County Library, please email history@worcesterlibrary.org or call 410-632-3495. As we have limited storage and a limited scope, we are unable to accept all items to our collection, and reserve the right to decline any potential donations. If we are unable to accept your donation, we will assist you in finding another organization that may be interested.
We are currently only interested in items, photographs, or documents related directly to Worcester County, Maryland. We may accept items related to the surrounding counties of Wicomico and Somerset (MD), Accomack (VA), or Sussex (DE). Items may not be accepted if they are not directly related to Worcester County, they do not have concrete historic value or interest, they are a duplicate of another item in our collection, they are too large for our storage spaces, or are too damaged.
We cannot promise that any items dropped off at the library without prior conversation or paperwork will be added to our collection.
Simple genealogy questions that take less than an hour to answer are free of charge.
If you would like more in-depth research help requiring the full attention of our staff regarding Worcester County, Md genealogy, then there will be a $5.00 per hour fee up to two additional hours. Other fees include $0.25 per photocopied page plus shipping and handling for mail requests.
There is no fee for visiting the Snow Hill Branch and conducting your own genealogical research! Our staff will be more than willing to answer any quick and easy questions for the duration of the time you wish to remain in the branch.
