The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Yearbook collection contains one 2014 yearbook from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. This yearbook includes color photographs of students who graduated from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The photographs include only those that graduated in 2014. There are also detailed information and photographs of many clubs, Greek life, sports, events such as homecoming, leadership retreats, the actual graduation, and pictures of every graduate organized by last name.
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is a land grant, historically black college. It maintains a legacy of an HBCU that offers equal education opportunity to all students. The college is located in Princess Anne, Maryland and is a part of the University System of Maryland.
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) was originally founded in 1886 with 9 students and one faculty. Founded through the offices of the Delaware Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the school was originally known as the Delaware Conference Academy.
Later, UMES came to be known as the Industrial Branch of Morgan State College and Princess Anne Academy.
In 1919, The State of Maryland sought to provide a Land-Grant program for them and assumed control of the Princess Anne Academy, changing its name to Eastern Shore Branch of the Maryland Agricultural College. This was due to the State of Maryland operating its land-grant program at the Maryland Agricultural College at College Park, to which African-American students were not admitted.
In 1948 the name was again changed, to Maryland State College. In 1970, the university obtained its current name of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
From its original campus building known as “Olney,” constructed in 1798 during the era of President George Washington, UMES has grown to over 745 acres with 32 major buildings and 41 other units. The student population has drastically increased to 4,500. Within the last decade, the University has added 20 degree granting programs to its academic roster.

Yearbooks are dated based on the year of graduation rather than the academic school year (ex. Class of 2014 will be dated 2014 rather than 2013-2014). The Yearbooks are also organized chronologically.
Folders are listed by their location in each box; any given subject may be dispersed throughout the entirety of the collection.
