The Atlantic Coastal Bays Protection Maps collection consists of maps of Worcester County compiled by geographic information scientists to assist planners and builders with the planning and development process. The primary concern was to make sure that developers were compliant and aware of the Atlantic Coastal Bays Protection Act, passed in 2002 by the Maryland General Assembly.
The Atlantic Coastal Bays Protection Act was introduced to protect Maryland’s natural waterways, habitats, and improving water quality for coastal areas and communities. It was created with the intent of being a local program that would establish a resource collection program for Atlantic Coastal bays and their tributaries.
This collection documents the maps compiled by geographic information scientists to guide development and implement recovery plans for coastal communities and waterways.
Series I: Government Maps: Maps compiled by Worcester County GIS to guide development. The maps have been bound into a book format.
The Atlantic Coastal Bays Protection Maps records have been arranged into one series, GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS.
